The advancement of medicine

Maurice and Vivienne had always given privately to individuals who needed medical help, but over time they chose to do something more universal to help combat disease.

In the UK, the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at Hammersmith Hospital was given funds to establish the Maurice Wohl Clinical Research Laboratories in the early 1980s, the Maurice Wohl Cardiovascular Laboratories in 1990, and the Maurice Wohl Unit of Immunological Medicine in 1991.

At King’s College London, the Foundation generously supported the building of the Maurice Wohl General Dental Practice Centre in 1987 and, a few years later, the Wohl Molecular Biology Laboratory, the Liver Unit and the Students’ Residence.

In Israel, the Wohl Paediatric Ophthalmology and Blindness Prevention Centre in Petah Tikva, opened in 1992, was an important addition to the newly built Schneider Hospital. In 1996, the Wohl Institute for Advanced Imaging was funded at the Sourasky Medical Centre, together with the purchase of an MRI machine – then a ground-breaking diagnostic tool.
