Who we are

The Wohl Legacy is a group of three charitable foundations established by the late Maurice and Vivienne Wohl, which now continues their legacy of support for medical science, welfare and education in the UK, Israel, Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and other Jewish populations in need around the world. The three foundations reflect the priorities established by Maurice and Vivienne Wohl in their lifetime.

The Maurice Wohl Charitable Foundation

This Foundation was established in 1965 by Maurice Wohl. It gives charitable grants intended to bring about change in key areas in the UK, with a particular focus on the advancement of medical sciences, Jewish community welfare and Jewish education. The trustees also support projects in the areas of arts and humanities.

The Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Philanthropic Foundation

This Foundation was established in 2003. It makes grants intended to bring about change through projects for the primary benefit of Jewish communities in Israel, the former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe and other areas where there are people in need. In accordance with the priorities established by Maurice and Vivienne Wohl during their lifetimes, there is a particular focus on the advancement of the medical sciences, social and communal welfare and education.

The Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Charitable Foundation

This Foundation is a charitable trust administered in Zurich by its trustee, Paicolex Trust Company (BVI) Limited. It is not governed by English law and is therefore not registered as a UK charity. Its charitable objective is the support of institutions and programmes calculated to benefit the Jewish people in Israel, the former Soviet Union and other areas of the world in which there are people in need.
