For 60 years, the Wohl Legacy has carried forward the philanthropic vision of Maurice and Vivienne Wohl, whose commitment to giving began with deeply held beliefs that generosity could strengthen community, culture, and opportunity across Israel and beyond.
Their philanthropic vision still underpins our grant-making process today, we support organisations that have excellent leadership, strong governance, strive to be financially sustainable, and aspire to life-changing outcomes.
In Israel we support a wide range of organisations and projects, from the internationally treasured and recently renovated Wohl Rose Garden in Jerusalem, to heritage sites like The National Library of Israel which preserves culture and literature for all, to the Wohl Appleseed Campus which invests in Israel’s future generations.
We continue to support the advances in medical sciences, through investing in research centres and patient-centred medicine at the Sheba Medical Centre and the Hadassah Medical Organisation.
The Wohl Legacy also aims to tackle some of the large societal challenges, through focusing on building pathways to high-quality employment and providing opportunities for a brighter future, for different at-risk populations. The aim is to strengthening personal and communal resilience through organisations such as Yeladim, that exists to offer a fairer chance for children in care, Beit Issie who empower the voice of people with disabilities and Bat Melech, for women surviving domestic violence, offering safe shelter, emotional and legal support.
In 2025, the Wohl Legacy produced a film celebrating the foundations 60th anniversary, showcasing the continuing commitment to their endeavours and highlighting how their projects connect people with beauty, history, and wellbeing.

In the UK, the Wohl Legacy supports a broad spectrum of organisations today that reflect this founding purpose with a strong focus on helping people become financially self-sufficient.
ORT UK empowers the next generation to reach their goals through mentoring, employability skills training and work experience opportunities. Work Avenue provides skills training, advice and guidance to help those seeking employment, freelance work or business development. Resource uses dedicated work coaches to provide tailored advice to help individuals get into sustainable employment. All three work with each other and with the Wohl Legacy to improve lives.
For the younger generation, Gesher School offers education for those aged 4 to 16 with mild to moderate additional needs including autism and ADHD. Gateways helps secondary school aged young people who struggle to remain in mainstream education to regain their confidence to either continue their education journey or enter the work force. Continuing the themes of education, the Wohl Legacy has partnered with the Office of the Chief Rabbi to create the Shalem Fellowship offering enhanced torah study alongside secular studies for university students in London.
Grants also extend to vital welfare infrastructure like Jewish Care, Kisharon Langdon and Norwood as well as the specific services offered by Jewish Women’s Aid.
Cultural enrichment has also been part of the Wohl Legacy journey, with support for institutions including the The British Academy and The National Gallery. Each project honours the Wohl’s original belief that philanthropy should uplift individuals and strengthen society as a whole.

The Wohl Legacy’s commitment to building resilient, vibrant communities extends into Europe too, where the foundation has developed focussed partnerships and initiatives that meet emerging needs and reinforce communal strength. The Wohl Legacy’s activity in Europe is specifically designed to support education, welfare, and humanitarian responses across borders.
A key example is Educating for Impact, a transformative programme that helps small Jewish communities across the continent strengthen their schools and shape long-term educational strategies, enabling future generations to flourish. Additionally, the Wohl Legacy has played an important role in humanitarian assistance linked to the Ukraine crisis, supporting partners delivering food, medical aid, and refugee support to tens of thousands of people who were affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
