Protected: Jewish Blind & Disabled – UK
Over 500 Jewish people living with physical disabilities have already benefited from Jewish Blind & Disabled’s (JBD) Independent Living Advisory Service (ILA), with 93% of clients reporting that they have truly benefited from this at home service.
The Wohl Legacy are proud principal supporters of this essential project which was launched in 2019. The ILA provides free, impartial advice from a qualified Occupational Therapist to Jewish adults living with a physical disability, within London.
Through a tailored home assessment, the service identifies practical aids and adaptations that can make an enormous difference to a person’s ability to live safely and independently in their own home. This can include grab rails, ramps and assistive technology for opening doors, controlling temperature and much more.
Where the local authority is unable to provide recommended items, JBD can often help to acquire them through a loan or grant, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to independence.
